Geraldine Hewitt Covey

Gerrie Covey passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12th, 2011 surrounded by her family and lifted-up by her friends. She is survived by her husband Ken Covey, a sister, and brother. She is preceded in death by her first husband Hubert Hewitt as well as two brothers and one sister. Gerrie was blessed with three children from her first marriage, Mike, Joy, and Cindy. By marriage to Ken, she was again blessed with four additional children, Sue, Chris, Matt, and Kate. She was privileged to have 12 grandchildren and a life full of many friends. She loved taking care of her husband and home as well as traveling North America. She worked at Commercial Bank of Panama City and Mid-South Lumber Yard for many years. She was active with the alumni of the Bay High Class of 1947, organizing luncheons and special holiday functions. As a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, she was involved with the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, providing support to her community. Gerrie showed us how to live life, supporting family, friends, and the city that she loved. There will be visitation at Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. with a rosary service to be held at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at St. Dominic's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
