Gerald Leon Smith, 67, of Panama City, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 in a local hospital. He was born October 23, 1947 in Panama City to Hardrick & Ruby Smith. He graduated from Rutherford High School in 1967. After graduation, he served for 3 years in the United States Army. He was a powerhouse operator at the papermill and retired in 2003 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed working on his antique cars and displaying them at car shows. He is survived by 3 children, Gerald Aaron Smith (Tiffany); Alicia Rinehart (Wade); Nikki Long (Shane); 6 grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Eisley Smith, Marla Rinehart, Makaela Rinehart, Austin Sullivan, Amanda Sullivan; sister, Janice Finch; brother, Bernard Jones and numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
