GERALD MORRIS CHAVERS SR.

Gerald Morris Chavers Sr., 89, of Panama City, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in his home. He was born March 31, 1922 in Panama City to Clark & Cora Chavers. He graduated from the University of Florida, where he was a member of the cheerleading squad. He was the owner and operator of the Furniture Mart since 1945. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Acme Masonic Lodge #222 and had served as National Vice President of the Family Motorcoach Association. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cline Chavers; 2 sons, Sammy Chavers (Kathy); Gerald Chavers Jr. (Janice), all of Lynn Haven, 3 grandchildren, Missy McCoy (Mark); Christy Wortman (Ben); Katy Johnson (Ben); 4 great grandchildren, Hilton Wortman, Reese Johnson, Riley Kate Johnson, Parker McCoy and a sister, Virginia Chavers Boyette. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Friday.
