GEORGE A. "MAC" McLAIN
George A. "Mac" McLain (Capt. Mac), 83, of Panama City, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, December 13, 2010 in his home. He was born November 26, 1927 in Carrabelle, Florida. He worked as a distribution operator for Gulf Power from 1953 -1990. Since 1977, he also worked as a volunteer for the Bay County Sheriff's Office. He was a member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church and the Bay County Sheriff's Auxiliary. He was also a former Boy Scout Leader. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest & Sadie McLain. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June McLain; son, George McLain, II. and wife Debbie; daughter, Martha Snider and husband Timothy; four grandchildren, Daniel H. McLain and wife Beverly, Melissa June Sexton and husband Wayne, Charles A. McLain and wife Blair, Shane Snider and wife Elizabeth; five great grandchildren; and sister, Janice Pennington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Hodges and Rev. Chris Cook officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Newton City Cemetery, Newton, Alabama. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gulf Power Retirees and members of the Bay County Sheriff's Office and the Bay County Sheriff's Auxiliary.
