GEORGE LUTHER HILL, SR.
George Luther Hill, Sr., 91, of Panama City, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He was born July 30, 1917 in Liberty County, Florida and had been a resident of Panama City since 1941. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a member of Parker Masonic Lodge #142 and served in many capacities. Parker Lodge will open one hour prior to the service. He retired after 32 years with International Paper Company. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Stella Mae Hill, daughter, Lillie Fay Hill, son, Harold Millis, three grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his children, Carl Millis and wife Verniece, daughter-in-law, Annette Millis, all of Panama City, Frances Pittard and husband Mike, of Elizabethton, TN, George L. Hill, Jr., and wife Sandra, of Monroeville, AL and Louise Putney and husband Duane, of Tallahassee; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Kuhn officiating and Rev. Chris Roberts assisting. Interment will follow in Millville Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 – 3 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a contribution to Amedisys Hospice, 684 Hwy 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643 in memory of George Hill, Sr. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Masons and Retirees of International Paper Company.
