GEORGE A. CHANCELLOR, JR.

1935 – 2009

George A. Chancellor, Jr., 74, of Panama City, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Bay Medical Center. He was a retired educator (Dallas Independent School District) and currently employed as a teacher at Corrections Corp of America. Mr. Chancellor received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and Masters Degree from Stetson University. He was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir and was a former Elder. He was also a member of MENSA International. He is survived by his wife, Doris Davis Chancellor; son, Jason Chancellor, of Triangle, VA; daughter, Carla Young, of Garland, TX; sister, Rebecca Chancellor Bourdene, of Hattiesburg, MS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Presbyterian Church with Dr. Richard Connor, Sr. and Rev. Reid Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9 – 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Those desiring may make a donation to the Taunton Family Children's Home, 200 Taunton Family Road, Wewahitchka, FL 32456 or to the Parkway Presbyterian Church, 505 S Tyndall Parkway, Panama City, FL 32404 in memory of George A. Chancellor, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Corrections Corp. of America.
