Obituary

Beloved husband and devoted father and grandfather, Gary Elwood Mank, age 71, has traded this earth for his heavenly home. The Mank family received the sudden and unexpected news that Mr. Mank had a progressive case of pulmonary fibrosis on Friday, March 4 th . He fought hard for two days, giving all of his children just enough time to arrive and say their goodbyes to their precious father. Surrounded by his family, the legacy of his life, he passed peacefully into the arms of his Father above on Sunday, March 6 th . Gary Elwood Mank was a loving and devoted man. To all who knew him, his passions were evident: God, Family and Friends, Country and Yankees Baseball. As a husband of 50 years, a brother, a father to 4, and a grandfather to 4 more, an uncle, a cousin, and a nephew, he played a huge role in the lives of his family members. He was a man who was continuously self-less, thoughtful and strong. Mr. Mank worked his whole life to provide for his family and lead them in the way of the Lord. His legacy extends beyond his family as well, into his roles as pastor, friend, baseball fan, and soldier. He was a man of few words, but many convictions. He served faithfully in the U.S. Army for 19 years, from 1976-1995, and his love of Country never ended. Following his service in the military, he continued loving and serving those around him as a pastor from 1995 until the end of his life. Gary Elwood Mank touched so many lives through weddings, funerals, baptisms, and counseling sessions, and he cherished every one of these connections, keeping in touch with countless friends and colleagues throughout his life. He is dearly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at Historic St. Andrew's Church on May 28, 2022 at 2 pm. As an alternative to flowers, donations can be given to Compassion International or Wounded Warriors project on his behalf.
