G. Allen Lewis

G. Allen Lewis, 69, of Panama City, Florida died June 2, 2008 of cancer in his home. He was born October 5, 1938 in Poulan, Georgia to Roy and Agnes Lewis. He had been a resident here for 12 years, moving here from Destin, Florida. He was in the United States Navy for 21 years and served in Vietnam. He retired in 1976 as a CWO3. He also worked as a Government Contractor for 24 years; he was still working for DeTect Inc. until the onset of his illness. He was a member of the Omega 380 Masonic Lodge in Fort Walton Beach and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Daniel Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Helen Lewis, daughters, Tammy Lewis of Jacksonville, Florida, Dee Warren and husband Duston of Alexandria, Alabama, brothers, Leroy Lewis and wife Sue of Sale City, Georgia, Roger Lewis and Regina of Lumpkin, Georgia, grandchildren, Brooke, Daniel, Chase, Taylor, great-grandson, Dylan, and all his friends at Ebro, Publix in Lynn Haven and 23rd Street, Kobe's, Captain's Table Restaurant, and all the lotto outlets around town. He anonymously helped a lot of people and never met a stranger. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leroy Lewis officiating with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emerald Coast Hospice, 2935 Highway 77, Lynn Haven, Florida 32444 in memory of G. Allen Lewis.
