FREDRICK JOHN LANG

Fredrick John Lang, our most precious family treasure, passed away at the Butterfly Wing, an inpatient unit of the Hospice of Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. He was 57 years old and a native of Panama City, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Katherine Wyman Lang; beloved pet, Hattie Olivia Lang; one brother, Robert Norman Lang (Debbie) of Cullman, AL; one half-brother, Louis Lang (Gloria) of Baldwin, FL; one sister, Joy Philippine Yelito (Thomas) of Valdosta, GA; special in-laws, Claus and Jackie Wyman of Panama City; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wyman Harris (Dee) of Panama City, FL; brother-in-law, Kenneth Wyman (Millie) of Panama City, FL; three nephews, Adam Kay, John-Philip Lang, Tyler Yelito; four nieces, Alicia Hanjora, Amber Rascona, Azia Rose "Rosie" Yelito and Kenna Gayle Wyman; and a special friend, Herb Hinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Humphrey Lang and Johanna Delta Lang. Fred was given the gift to treat all that met him as equals, no matter who they were. He was quick to make friends of strangers and always gave kind words of encouragement. He was a 1973 graduate of Bay High School in Panama City and was Student Body President. Later, he moved to Baton Rouge and was employed with Georgia Gulf Corporation, Data Center, for 28 years. He was well known for his love to cook for others. One of his many gifts being his "Championship" Jambalaya. He was passionate about visiting with neighbors, while working in his yard. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Murner and Robert Lang officiating. Entombment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 – 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gather a rock from your travels and place in your garden in memory of Fred Lang. Mr. Lang's video tribute may be viewed online at www.wilsonfuneralhome.net. Active pallbearers will be Bill Fontaine, John-Philip Lang, Adam Kay, Claus Wyman, Thomas Yelito and Kenny Wyman.
