FRANCES SCOTT HALL

Frances Elizabeth Scott Hall, 91, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in Panama City, Florida. She was born on her family's farm in Brent, Georgia, on August 27, 1919, and came to her beloved Panama City with her husband and young son in 1946. Frances taught school at Bay High School before taking a job as a stenographer at the Navy Base. She later returned to teaching at Tyndall Air Force Base. She then spent over 20 years teaching in the business department at Bay High School prior to retiring in 1980.

Frances was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. In retirement, she spent many years as an active member of the Woman's Club of Panama City and the Retired Officers Wives Club, and was a generous supporter of the arts in the Panama City area.

She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas G. and Frances F. Scott; her loving husband, William R. Hall; and two brothers, Walter C. Scott and Thomas G. Scott. She is survived by her three sons, Walter R. Hall (Cheri), of Panama City; William E. Hall (Lynda) of Ellijay, Georgia; and Richard S. Hall (Denise) of Marietta, Georgia; one grandson, William E. Hall III (Theresa) of Wake Forest, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Marissa and Reese Hall, of Marietta, Georgia; two great-grandsons, Will and Nathan Hall, of Wake Forest, North Carolina; her sister, Mary S. Neuner, of Barnesville, Georgia; her special niece, Sandra N. Carter, of Lilburn, Georgia; nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends and the numerous students whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Nature Conservancy or First United Methodist Church.
