Frances Arnold Kirkland, 86, passed away on February 10, 2016. Frances was born on October, 1 1929 in Malone, Florida to William Sheldon and Verna Mae Arnold. She was a member of FBC of Panama City where she was involved in many areas of the church as well as being on staff for 44 years. Frances started on staff when her children were both in school October 1, 1969 as receptionist and then music secretary for Dr. John Boozer. She was there with Dr. Julius H Avery, Dr. Bill Hickem, Dr. Ben Peacock, Dr. N.B. Langford and Dr. Craig Conner. Frances retired December 31, 1990 and then started back part-time in the financial office with her precious friend, Carol Carswell from January 1, 1991 until December 16, 2013. Frances was also involved in the Cradle Roll Sunday School department as the secretary for 36 years. Frances was dedicated to First Baptist Church in so many areas and was loved and will be remembered for her contagious laugh. Frances was preceded in death by the love of her life for 63 years, Doyle Herman Kirkland. Her parents William Sheldon and Verna Mae Arnold, brother Harmon Arnold and nephew Randy Arnold. She is survived by son, Kenneth Doyle Kirkland, daughter, Kathy Kirkland Lamagdeleine (Donald), granddaughters, Kirsten Etheridge (Logan), Amy Lamagdeleine, great grandson's Colton Miles Etheridge, Carson Brooks Etheridge and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to send a special thank you to her wonderful caregivers Marva Fennell and Betty Jones. Marva and Betty were like family and loved mom as much as mom loved them. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday February 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Panama City with Rev. Clyde Ellison and Rev. David Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be First Baptist Church Staff members, Deacons of First Baptist Church and their wives, members of the Rose Sunday School Class and Dr. Rush Akin.
