FRANCES PILCHER ATWELL
Mrs. Frances Pilcher Atwell, a native of Panama City, Florida went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Bay Medical Center. Mrs. Atwell was born in Millville, Florida, August 6, 1925 to John and Eva Pilcher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Henry Tolbert Atwell, her son John T. Atwell and her sister, Florence M. Turner.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie A. Clark and her son in law, Roger L. Clark, Sr., her grandson, Roger L. Clark, Jr. and his wife, Casey L. Clark, her great-grandson, Conner Ethan Clark, all of Panama City; her younger sisters, Betty Scruggs of Canal Point, Florida, Judy Ainsworth of Pahokee, Florida and her brother, James Z. Pilcher and his wife, Patricia of Pahokee, Florida, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Atwell was a long time member of the Hiland Park Baptist Church, where she taught three year old children for over 30 years. She and her husband founded and operated Atwell Outdoor Advertising, Inc. since 1954 in Panama City.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Hiland Park Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010. Officiating ministers will be Rev. Carl Fondren and Rev. Clyde Ellison. Graveside services and interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at Hiland Park Baptist Church, prior to the service.
Mrs. Atwell's family would like to extend their warmest gratitude to the many friends and family members who have provided loving care and support during the last two years. Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Vickie Harrell, Dr. Rodney Morris, Mrs. Sheila Tison and especially to her nieces who have been angels throughout this process.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a contribution to the Building and Property Acquisition Fund of the Hiland Park Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Atwell.
