MRS. FLOIE COOK WHITEHURST
Mrs. Floie Cook Whitehurst passed away January 18, 2007. She was born May 1, 1922, to W. Friley and Pauline Cook. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Oscar Hoyt Whitehurst, her daughter, Charla Whitehurst Boggs, sisters Irene Pitts and Lucille Hagans, a brother, Billy Cook and his wife Ann, all of Panama City, and several aunts, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and one brother, Lloyd Cook.
Mrs. Whitehurst was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City and the Phileo Sunday School Class. An avid gardener, Mrs. Whitehurst was a member of the Panama City Garden Club for many years and won ribbons at county fairs and flower shows for her canned goods and plants. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Panama Chapter 102, Order of the Eastern Star. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Shelly Woolum, Dawn DeGroff, and Queen Thompson for the many hours of care they provided to Mrs. Whitehurst; the staff of St. Andrews Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; the staff of Covenant Hospice, especially Cathy Collings, Janet Gray and Craig Brannon; and Debra Simmons, Mary Beth Vickers and Debbie Whitney of Geriatric Care Management Solutions, Inc., of Tallahassee. Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 22, at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Craig Brannon and Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Floie C. Whitehurst to Covenant Hospice, 107 West 19 Street, Panama City, Florida, 32405.
