EVELYN M. BAXTER
Evelyn M. Baxter, 97, of Panama City, Florida died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in her home. She was born in Clio, Alabama and resided there until she began her teaching career which started in Ashford, AL. She came to Bay County in 1951 and taught in local elementary and secondary schools until retirement. Evelyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Panama City, where she belonged to Women in the Church and the Closer Walk Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her close friend, Lurlene Dabbs.
She is survived by her cousins, Sarah Turner Baxley Davis, of Dothan, AL, Glen Strickland, of New Orleans, LA, J.B. Baxter, of Tampa, FL; her main caregiver, Mattie Taylor and her sitters, Roberta Monlyn, Melanie Brown, Doshia Smiley and Lilly Miller. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard Watson officiating. Interment will be held at the Pea River Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Clio, Alabama. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Panama City, 100 E 7th Street, Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Evelyn Baxter.
