The burial service for Eunice "Boots" Brandt Jones, 88 years, of Lexington, Virginia formerly of Panama City will be held Saturday, August 4th at 2 PM in Greenwood Cemetery.

Boots Jones, born June 9, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at home on her 88th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband James "Jimmy" Addison Jones III, and survived by her two children James "Jim" Addison Jones IV (Suzanne) and Melissa Jones Woolf; five grandchildren James Addison Jones V, Whitney Worthington Jones Allen (Michael), Charlotte Bea Woolf, Brandt Allen Woolf, Courtney Hall Harjung (Tom); and one great-grandchild Margaret Cecilia Virginia Allen.

Boots was the daughter of Adolph Sternberg Brandt and Eunice Cecile Worthington Brandt. Her family moved to Panama City in 1942 where she attended Cove Grammar School, Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church, and graduated from Bay County High School with Honors. She was deeply involved in the local war effort during World War II: writing a radio program with peers, running a Girl's Victory Club, and volunteering with the Red Cross. She met her husband and lifelong sweetheart Jimmy at 13 when they were schoolmates at Cove School. She enjoyed sailing at the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, social gatherings at the Cove Hotel, and attended Florida State University. Boots and Jimmy were married at First Methodist Church on August 18, 1951 prior to his service in the Korean War. After the Korean War, Boots and Jimmy lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and Coral Gables, Florida, before retiring to Lexington, Virginia in 1982.

Her family will forever remember her selfless compassion, immaculate appearance, insatiable love of reading, scholarly knowledge of history, delight in gardening, and her ability to recall the incredible stories of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Rockbridge Area Hospice in Lexington, Virginia.
