ERVEN O. SEWELL SR.

Erven O. Sewell Sr. , 89, of Panama City, passed away February 22, 2014 in a local hospital. He was born February 29, 1924 in Altha, Florida to John Fletcher and Jennie Elizabeth Sewell. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1964 moving here from Texas. He was a retired Master Sergeant serving in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. After retiring from the United States Air Force, he began a second career in the insurance industry retiring after 20 years. He was also a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF). He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Peggy Lois Sewell. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lois Sewell; daughter, Ellen Sewell Stevens; son, Erven O Sewell Jr (Terri); 5 grandchildren, Angela Hawkins (Michael), Alecia Clagett (Andrew), John Stevens (Amy), Samuel Sewell (Rachael), and Jonathan Sewell (Nicole); 8 great-grandchildren and brother, Fletcher Ernest Sewell (Clara). Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Kuhn officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to service time.
