Erven Otis Sewell Jr died on January 8, 2025 after a long battle with Crohn's disease. Erven was born on August 25, 1955 to Erven and Betty Sewell. His family relocated to Bay County, Florida when he was 9 years old, and he would remain a resident there. He attended Rutherford High School and graduated in 1973. He married his high school sweetheart, Terri Ann Weathers in August of 1974, and they spent almost 44 years together until her death in 2018.
Erven had a dedicated and successful career in sales carrying him all across the panhandle to assist his clients. He retired in 2022. He volunteered many hours at the Parker ball fields coaching baseball and announcing tournament play for many years, and served many roles including President of the association. He became a dedicated member of the Rotary club of Panama City Beach making many friends and serving his community, as was President from 2014-2015.
Erven had a strong foundation of faith throughout his life. He served in many church leadership roles including Song Leader, Deacon, and Minister. It was his commitment to service and love for the Lord that led him to his second wife, Josephine (Enriquez) Sewell. She was a true blessing to him for the last years of his life.
Erven was preceded in death by his father Erven O. Sewell Sr, mother Betty L. Sewell, sister Peggy L. Sewell, and wife Terri A. Sewell. He is survived by his wife Josephine Sewell of Panama City, Florida his sons Samuel (Rachael) Sewell of St Paul, Minnesota and Jonathan (Nicole) Sewell of Samson, Alabama, his sister Ellen Stevens of Panama City, his brother in law and long-time friend Steve (Dora) Weathers of Chattanooga, Tennessee, sister in law Jan (Tim) Dykes of Panama City, his grandsons Sawyer, Zander, and Fisher Sewell of Samson, Alabama, Eli and Jax Sewell of St Paul, Minnesota, and granddaughter Vivian Sewell of Samson, Alabama. His nieces Angela (Mike) Hawkins of North Richland Hills, Texas, Alecia (Andrew) Clagett of Panama City, Christy (Joel) Overall of Nashville, Tennessee, Sara (Sean) Kane of Groton, Connecticut and nephews Mark (Camila) Weathers of San Diego, California, John (Amanda) Stevens and Liam Dykes both of Panama City. He is also survived by his best friend Ron Sharpe, Uncle C.W. Mauldin of Panama City, and Aunt in law Violet Westbrook of Wewahitchka, Florida, the Enriquez and Agustin families of the Philippines, and many cousins that were always uplifting to him.
Services will be held 9:00 am visitation, 10:00 am memorial service, Saturday, January 24th at the Cherry Street Church of Christ (6321 Cherry St, Panama City, FL 32404) with graveside service to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations to the Cherry Street Church of Christ.
