Erin Laird Sullivan
Erin was born March 6, 1962, to Wallace and Elsa Laird and passed away peacefully at home with her nephew Joey, and her loving, four-legged best friend Hailey by her side on August 26, 2023, after a heroic battle with cancer defying the odds time after time.
Erin had an air about her that could light up the room and a voice that could fill the room. Erin was no doubt, far from bashful, and was pleased to tell all what she was thinking. Perhaps that is what made Erin so interesting and fun.
Erin loved her family and was proud to be a Laird. She told stories of the Laird Timber Co. and her father Wallace's involvement. Erin also undoubtedly loved her husband, Mike. It is a wonder she stuck around nearly 35 years and finally, married him.
Erin and Mike worked together side by side throughout the 35 years they had together. Erin truly was the books and brains of their businesses. Erin loved to read and was particularly well-read.
Perhaps more than anything, most remember Erin for her warm and abiding love for all animals. From her many bunnies (some that went swimming- oops Earnie), to her ducks (Ollie and Otis who remain), chickens (Rooster Cogburn), her pen for her turkeys, her "cow-pigs", many Australian Shepherds, the loved and not-so-loved cat "Mid", practically all animals—loved and flocked to Erin.
Erin is preceded in death by her mother Elsa Buchheit Laird, father; Wallace Hilton Laird Jr., (Bobbie Jean), and siblings: Stuart Laird, Robin Laird Bates, and Allan Laird, along with stepbrother Allen Stanford.
Erin was briefly survived by her husband Mike, who passed just 5 days after her.
Erin is survived by niece and nephew Joey Laird and Lauren Farmer Laird (along with their children), step-children: Michael Sullivan (Kirstie), and Christian Sullivan Walters (Christopher) along with her dearly beloved grandson Jaxon Fletcher Johnson.
Erin is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins on both the Buchheit and Laird sides of the family.
A visitation will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 2-4 p.m.
