Emory George Ray, 89, of Panama City passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020. He was born November 18, 1930 in Plains, Georgia. He graduated from Lanier High School for Boys in Macon, Georgia. He graduated from Mercer University and Florida State University. He taught at Colquitt County High School, Norman College and Gulf Coast State College. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Elizabeth Ray, daughter, Patricia "Patsy" Ray, parents, Jesse Floyd Ray & Mary Louise Conwell Ray, brother, Wilbur Eugene Ray and two sisters, Christine Ray and Mary Frances Wall. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra "Sandi" Ray Burleson (Joe Burleson Sr.); two grandchildren, Joe Ben Burleson Jr. (fiancé, Molly Johnson), Heather Smith (Ross); three great grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith, Reagan Smith, Emmalyn Smith, sister, Rosalyn Donaldson; niece, Mary Ann Wall and a nephew, Thomas A. Wall. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeremy Pridgeon, Rev. Carl Fountain and Joe Burleson Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Private entombment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Active pallbearers are Lavoy Anderson, Tommy St Amant, Robert Granda, Buell Harper, Bobby Johnson and Fred Scott. Honorary pallbearers will the Facility and Staff at Gulf Coast State , members of the Lillie Pennington Sunday School Class and the Tuesday night Men's Bible Class. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Music Library Ministry at First United Methodist Church of Panama City in memory of Emory Ray.
