Elwood Donald Delaney, 90, of Panama City Beach, FL passed away on Thursday February 16, 2017. He was born on July 4, 1926 in Parkersburg, WV to Doyal and Cora Delaney. He was a Major in The Salvation Army and served as a United States Marine in WWII as well as the South Pacific. He received a Purple Heart. After retirement he went on to serve in the prison ministry. He is preceded in death by his son, Major Dannie Delaney (Lynda); a grandson, Garrick Bledsoe; two sons-in-law, John Bledsoe and Bill Houseal. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Bell Delaney; children, Major Patricia Bledsoe, 1 st Sergeant USMC ret. Timothy Delaney (Thelma), Vanessa Houseal; grandchildren, Rev. Jonathan Bledsoe (Lisa), Captain Andrea Hoover (Scott) Captain Lorraina Crawford (Joey), Daniel Delaney, Chana Jordan (Jon), David Delaney (Danielle), Christopher Delaney, Kim Hall, Captain Melissa Irvin (Captain Joseph), Lt. Monica Horton (Lt. Johnny), Captain Timothy Delaney (Captain Bethany), William Houseal (Stephanie); 29 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Sunday February 19, 2017 at 4 pm at The Salvation Army Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday February 18, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home. Interment will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm EST at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
