ELVIE L. HARMON

Elvie L. Harmon, age 94, of Southport, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2006 at Bay Medical Center. She was born in Houston County, Alabama and had lived in Callaway for many years before moving to the Lake Merial area. She made her home with her daughter, Ms. Shirley Harris. Mrs. Harmon was a loving mother and homemaker and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in the Harmon Community in Houston County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus C. Harmon and a son, Joe F. Harmon. Mrs. Harmon is survived by three daughters, Ms. Shirley Harris of Lake Merial area, Ms. Martha Griffin of Andalusia, Alabama, and Mrs. Judy Wood and husband Royce of Samson, Alabama. Mrs. Harmon has several sisters and brothers, Mrs. Thelma King and husband George of Dothan, Alabama, Charles Mercer and wife Mary, Calvin Mercer and Ms. Grace Tolar all of Ashford, Alabama, and Ms. Margaret Phillips of Quincy, Florida. Mrs. Harmon has 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. and graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Highway 231 at 12:00 noon Wednesday.
