Elva "Delle" Galloway Joyner

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2020, for Elva Delle Joyner, age 90, who passed away March 28, 2020, at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Weaverville, N.C. Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by her husband, William Herschel Joyner, her parents, Ezra W. Galloway and Lucy Toole Galloway, and one brother Huey L. Galloway. She was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church, Panama City, Florida and a retiree of Southern Bell Telephone Company. A native of Geneva, Alabama, she moved to Graceville, Florida with her family prior to beginning public school and graduated from Graceville High School, Class of 1948. She and Mr. Joyner were married July 12, 1950, and made their home in Panama City, Florida. Both were avid fans and participants of Gospel Convention (Shaped Note) Music. Being gifted singers themselves, their involvement in "Convention Music" enabled them to develop friendships with fellow gospel singers throughout the South and Southwestern U.S.A. Following the death of her husband in July of 2015, she moved to Asheville, NC, to live with her long-time friend, Joyce Helms Adkison and husband, John Adkison. Due to declining health she later moved into Assisted Living where she remained until the time of her death. Surviving are her long-time friends and care-givers, Joyce and John Adkison, Assistant care-givers, Rory and Melody Rigdon and their sons, Kruz and Sohl, all of Asheville, N.C. Also surviving are numerous nephews, nieces, their spouses and children of Delle's late husband (William Herschel Joyner) most of whom continue to reside in the areas of North and N.W. Florida. There will be a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2020 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel and the memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Associate Pastor Rory Rigdon of Trinity Baptist Church, Asheville, N.C. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Joyner had requested that donations be made to Forest Park United Methodist Church, 1401 W. 23rd Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
