Elaine Newberry Lawrence, 80, of Panama City, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018. She was born August 14, 1938 in Millville, Florida to William Ralph Newberry Sr. & Lois Lucille Turner Newberry. She was a 1956 graduate of Bay High School. Elaine was a wife, mother, Mamaw to her adoring family. She was a lifelong Gator fan and never missed a chance to watch them play. She was very active in the Panhandle Gator Club serving as secretary for over 15 years. She was awarded an honorary PHT degree (Putting Hubby Through) by the Dames of the University of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Judy Cleghorn, Diane Newberry and a brother, Ralph Newberry Jr. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles A. Lawrence; three sons, Scott Lawrence (Lorie); Rex Lawrence (Deborah); Douglas Lawrence (Amy); eight grandchildren, Robert Lawrence (Samantha Christensen); Alysa Nelson (Garrett); Natalie Lawrence, Caitlin Lawrence, Caryn Lawrence, Sarah Zerbach, Ashley Lawrence (Montgomery Rich); Hannah Zerbach; five great grandchildren, Robert Lawrence Jr., Grayson Lawrence, Hunter Christensen, Emma Christensen, Leah Nelson and a sister, Janice Williams. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bay High School Class of 1956 and members of the Panhandle Gator Club.
