Edwin Earl Conley Sr., 81, of Panama City, passed away August 22, 2009 in a local hospital. He was born January 12, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1945, he graduated from high school and joined the Merchant Marines and was assigned to the Liberty Ship. After an honorable discharge from the United States Army, he moved to Bainbridge, Georgia and was partner in the International Harvester business. On June 25, 1960, he married Billie Whitesell. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1961. He was a Boy Scout leader, coached little league and softball teams in the R.L. Turner League. He was an avid sports fan and gardener. He was retired as the Parts Manager for Cook Whitehead Ford, where he was employed for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Nettie Dunton, daughter, Pamela Conley Culver, son-in-law, Terry Culver and brother, James L. Conley. He is survived by his wife Billie Conley; three children, Tammy Darnell and husband Jimmy; Edwin Conley Jr., all of Panama City; Carolyn Rubinstein and husband Marc of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren, Kevin Berry, Megan Bailey and husband Steven, Tyler Dobbs, Michael Rubinstein, JoAnna Rubinstein; sister-in-law, Joyce Conley; three nieces, Robin Buckaloo, Susan Kovach and Kathy Wedge. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Bailey officiating.
