Ray Moates, 96, passed away November 22, 2006 in a local hospital. He was a life long resident of the area, born January 19, 1910 in St. Andrews, Florida; he attended Bay County schools and was a long time member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He retired from International Paper Company in 1972 after 37 years of continuous service. Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Henrietta Louise Moates, his parents, Lum and Nettie Moates, two brothers, Fred Houlton Moates and Howard Douglas Moates, two sisters, Marjorie Louise Ware and Betty Burdick and a loving daughter-in-law, Shirley Ann Moates. He is survived by two sons, Fred Houlton Moates II and wife Jeannette of Eatonton, Georgia, and Samuel Ray Moates and wife Patsy of Panama City, sister, Frances M. Bukota and husband George of Lakeland, Florida, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
