EDWARD HARRIS MERCER
Edward Harris Mercer, 78, of Panama City, died Monday, June 30, 2008 in a local hospital. He was born December 4, 1929 in Eufaula, Alabama to Roy and Mae Mercer. He was a past Director of the Panama City Port Authority, and was a former Executive Director of the Committee of 100 for the Bay County Chamber of Commerce. He retired as Director of the Bay County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Beatrice "Bea" Mercer, his parents and a brother, Don Mercer. He is survived by his children, Steve Mercer and wife Tammy, Bruce Mercer and wife Teresa, Rhonda Hatcher and husband Dennis, Mark Mercer and wife Renee, Denise Polonius and husband Mike, grandchildren, Patrick Mercer and wife Jodi, Stephen Mercer and wife Valerie, Chris Mercer, Kyle Mercer, Lindsay Mercer, Nichole Weatherly and husband Stephen, Jeremy Hatcher and wife Cathryn, Suzanne Mercer, Josh Mercer, Olivia Mercer, Michael Polonius, John Polonius and Stephanie Polonius, great-grandchildren, Sierra Mercer, Sandra Trimnel, Ayla Trimnel, Sara Trimnel, Cameron Weatherly, Delaney Weatherly, Jeremiah Hatcher, Ethan Hatcher and Annah Karis Hatcher and two brothers, John Mercer and wife Pam and George Mercer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
