Edgar Owen Daffin, 76, of Panama City, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021.  He was born October 25, 1944 to Carlyne Boykin Daffin and Sidney A. Daffin Jr. and grew up living on St. Andrew's Bay.  He loved boats and got his first outboard at the age of ten.  He graduated from Darlington School in Rome, Georgia in 1963 and Oglethorpe University in 1967 with a Bachelors degree in History.  At Oglethorpe, he was the Captain of the universities Nationally ranked Varsity Soccer team and was named an All-American player. He attended graduate school at Florida State University Computer  Science Program from 1967-68.  He joined the United States Navy in 1968.  Following his service in the Navy, he married Ann Kruse in 1972 and enjoyed travels to Europe and the Orient.  He joined his father's company, Daffin Mercantile Company as a salesman and rose to Vice-President.  After his father's death, he opened his own business Daffin Supply Co., which catered to restaurant supply needs, before retiring in 2018. Ed was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Usher until his declining health began limiting his activities in recent years. Edgar served as a Panama City Commissioner for Ward 1 and was a member of the Panama City Rotary Club and the Jaycee's for many years.  He married Kitsey Morris, an English Professor at Gulf Coast College and former teach at St. John's Academy in 1992 and they enjoyed Winnebago Camping and fishing in many remote fishing holes in the Southeast.  Ed and Kitsey loved animals and rescued many lucky dogs and cats during their time together.  Kitsey preceded him in death in August 2014.  Ed was an avid sailor, having sailed and motored his largest boat bought in Baltimore, Maryland, back to Panama City, with the help of his friends. Edgar is survived by brother, Sidney A. Daffin III, M.D. (Rebecca) of Panama City; sister, Julianne Daffin PHD of Atlanta, GA, nieces Maryann Daffin Pettis (Kevin), Shelby Daffin Brock, grandnephew Christian Burt and numerous grandnieces and cousins.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be considered to the Panama City Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 2359, Panama City, FL 32402 or the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1878, Panama City, FL 32402 and or the Covenant Hospice, 107 West 19 ^th Street, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Edgar Daffin.
