Duane Eric Evans, 51, of Panama City, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was born on July 3, 1970 in Portland, Indiana to Gail and Elizabeth Evans. He was a graduate of Maconaquah High School. In 1989 he entered active military service with the United States Air Force. In August of 1994, he was assigned to the 83 rd Fighter Weapons Squadron. He retired in 2009 with an honorable discharge after proudly serving his country with 20 years of military service. His highest rank obtained was Technical Sergeant/E6. After his retirement he became an active Civil Service member in April 2010 and held a position as a Telemetry Electronics Technician. He directly supported the Weapons System Evaluation Program and was responsible for the data collection, missile tracking and service and support function to the 83 rd Telemetry flight. He provided support to the Combat Air Forces in ensuring the capabilities and lethality of 7 missile systems. He took part in the planning of multiple deployments to Hill Air Force Base in direct support of Combat Archer West exercises. He was promoted to Equipment Specialist for the 325 th Munitions Squadron, which made him responsible for the serviceability of the Department of Defense's sole AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range air-to-air missile weapons platform telemetry test stations. He guided 32 Active-Duty Airmen in performing depot level maintenance at the field level, converting advanced air-to air missiles from a tactical to a telemetry configuration. His wealth of knowledge met the needs of future members assigned to the 325 th Munitions Squadron. His major awards and decorations include Air Force Commendation Medal and Air Force Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters. We was District 8 Commissioner, Florida State Babe Ruth/Cal Ripkin Association and was also the active League President of the Callaway Youth Baseball League, a position that he was very proud of and held dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Robert & Sculey Thomas and Roma Evans. He is survived by his children, Brandon Evans and Kristen Evans; former wife of 16 years and mother of his twin children, Deanna Chambliss; mother, Elizabeth Thomas Bryan; father, Gail Evans; grandmother, Wavelene Evans; brother Stacey Evans (Prudence); sister, Jessica Evans; half siblings, Angela Daugherty (Dean), Kyle Evans (Kristen), Cody Evans, Casey Planck (Christopher); and step-sister, Sara Ann Lawler. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 1 p.m. Eastern Time in the Tallahassee National Cemetery, Tallahassee, FL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to his children's college fund in person at Tyndall Federal Credit Union or by calling 850-769-9999 and providing the Routing Number 263183175 and Account Number 2057708.
