Mr. Douglas Lee Davis, Jr., age 73, of Lynn Haven, passed away Monday morning in a local hospital following and extended illness. At 73, he lived most of his adult life in Bay County. In the mid to late seventies, he served as controller for a corporation formed by a group of local businessmen, headed by Tommy Thomas, Denver Brannon, and Julian Bennett, who built and aired channel- 13 in Panama City, which went on the air as WDTB-TV for NBC, and later became WMBB-TV. He then opened and operated his own accounting and CPA firm in Panama City before moving to Tallahassee, where he served as an executive administrator in the Secretary of Agriculture's office. Before returning to Panama City in 2008, he also served as President of the Lake City Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by a daughter, Kelly Holland Davis of Panama City, and one son, Douglas Lee Davis, III. He was preceded in death by parents, Douglas & Bernice Davis and his wife Susan Gainous Davis, also of Panama City, who passed away in 2012. There will be no services and memorialization will be by cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Bay County Humane Society.
