Dorothy "Dottie" Thompson, 85, passed away at 3:43 am on July 3, 2017, at her home in Panama City Beach, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, an avid golfer, loved the beach, boogie-boarding, gardening, and family vacations to Disney. She was born in Troy, Ohio to the late Floyd, Sr. and Laura (Gross) Demmitt on August 19, 1931, the fourth of 10 children, and grew up on her family's farm. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gerald W. Thompson, their three daughters Kay Kovaleski, Jennifer Thompson (Rick Powell), and Jocelyn (John) Flynt. Grandchildren, Matt (Keith Matthew) (Missy) Kovaleski, Jason Kovaleski, Rachel Flynt, and Jennifer Flynt, and great-grandsons, Tyler and Joshua Kovaleski. She is also survived by brother Tom (Jill) Demmitt, and sisters Phyllis Robinson and Kathy (Jay) Eben. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by step father Marion "Bud" D. Clark, four brothers Floyd, Jr."Dynamite", Don, Bill, and Jim, and sisters Kay and Shirley, and grandson, Jacob Bent. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Michael Bryan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Hospice, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
