DOROTHY IRENE POWELL ENNIS

Dorothy Irene Powell Ennis, (Mimi), left this earth on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 to live eternally with her Heavenly Father.

She was born in Garden City, Florida on July 28, 1917 to Mary Lucretia Broxon Powell and Horton Connor Powell. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and worked at Adams Hospital as a young woman. She was an active and faithful long-time member of the First Baptist Church and the Panama City Woman's Club, and was the recipient of the Panama City Jaycee Humanitarian of the Year Award.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Powell Booker, and her brother Lloyd Powell.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Buford Fulton Ennis; one daughter, Dottie Ennis Hamlin and husband Ron; two sons - Powell Ennis and wife Nell, and Chuck Ennis and wife Gail; seven grandchildren - Kelly Hamlin, Stacey Hamlin Ellis and husband Bobby, Powell Ennis Jr. and wife Tiffany, Griff Ennis and wife Amy, Ashley Ennis Williams and husband Keith, Wes Ennis and wife Kendall, and Cliff Ennis and wife Ryann; nine great-grandchildren - Ashton Sikes, Colton Ellis, Grace Ennis, Noah Williams, Griffin Ellis, Claire Ennis, Ella Ennis, Anna Williams, and Ava Ennis.

She was a loving, devoted wife and mother who provided a warm, nurturing home for her family. Her life was devoted to serving others. Her exemplary Christian faith and unconditional love are her greatest legacies. Her family and friends are truly blessed to have known her, and her memory will always be a constant source of inspiration.

Graveside services will be held at the Millville Cemetery (3rd Street at Church Avenue in Millville) on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Powell Ennis, Jr., Griff Ennis, Wes Ennis, Cliff Ennis, Bobby Ellis, and Keith Williams.

The family would like to thank Dr. Vickie Harrell, Dr. Tony McKenzie, Dr. Reed Finney, Emerald Coast Hospice, the staff at Bay Medical Center, and caregivers Kim Belk and Fay Trahan for their compassion and for their excellent care. Special thanks, appreciation, and love to caregivers Mary Margaret Duncan, Danielle Hartsfield and Abby Forgue for going the extra mile for Mimi and for all of us.
