DOROTHY BEATRICE "BEA" MERCER

Dorothy Beatrice "Bea" Mercer, 78, of Panama City, died March 2, 2008 in her home. She had been a resident here since 1972, moving here from Dothan, Alabama. She was a retired bookkeeper for Commercial/Sun Trust Bank. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Johnson and Maggie Daisy Turner Benton, her siblings, Fred Benton, Lola Mae Lawrence, Annie Bell Parmer, RC Benton, J. Lee Benton, Grace Napier, Wilson Benton, Comer Benton and Estelle Sewell. She is survived by her husband Edward Harris Mercer, children, Steve Mercer and wife Tammy, Bruce Mercer and wife Teresa, Rhonda Hatcher and husband Dennis, Mark Mercer and wife Renee, Denise Polonius and husband Mike, grandchildren, Patrick Mercer and wife Jodi, Stephen Mercer Jr. and wife Valerie, Chris Mercer, Kyle Mercer, Lindsay Mercer, Nichole Weatherly and husband Stephen, Jeremy Hatcher and wife Cathryn, Suzanne Mercer, Josh Mercer, Olivia Mercer, Michael Polonius, Johnny Polonius and Stephanie Polonius, great-grandchildren, Sierra Mercer, Sandra Trimnel, Ayla Trimnel, Sara Trimnel, Cameron Weatherly, Delaney Weatherly, Jeremiah Hatcher, Ethan Hatcher and Annah Karis Hatcher, brother, Jack Benton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Stephen Mercer Jr., Jeremy Hatcher, Joshua Mercer, Stephen Weatherly, Kenneth Napier, Sidney Napier, Mike Benton and Gary Brown. Those desiring to may make a donation to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 College Avenue, Panama City, Florida 32401 in memory of Bea Mercer.
