Dorothy assisted her husband in setting up and running his medical practice. She later worked as an RN at Bay Medical Hospital for twenty years. In 1992, Dorothy became a widow after fifty-three years of marriage.
Dorothy married William "Bill" Randall in 1996. They had many happy years together and always enjoyed a good laugh. Dorothy and Bill were co-recipients of the 2009 Jefferson Award in Panama City. They received this award because of their dedication to public service.
