IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Jane
Johnson Morgan
May 2, 1933 – October 2, 2023
Dorothy Jane Johnson Morgan, 90, of Youngstown, FL passed away Monday, October 2nd, 2023, peacefully at her home.
Dorothy was born in Panama City, FL, May 2, 1933 and lived in Bay County her entire life. While working as a secretary at Tyndall AFB, she met the love of her life, Vincent Morgan. After completion of his service in Korea, Vincent was assigned to TAFB as an aircraft mechanic. While there, they were set up by their best friends Robbie and Fred Rowland on a lunch date at Bonita Bay Beach. The rest was history. They fell in love and married. They truly adored one another every day of their 54 years together, with Vincent passing in 2008.
Dorothy was an outstanding servant to her Lord and Savior, family and friends. She and Vincent had two girls, Suzanne and Jennifer, which they raised with love. She was an accomplished homemaker, creating a wonderful and nurturing home for Vincent and the girls.
She served countless years working in the nursery and as a Sunday School teacher at church. After her children were grown, she continued to minister to others, always on the lookout for ways to meet the needs of others. She would cook up large pots of soup along with other goodies and deliver them to her sick friends. Often the food was delivered with a blanket and kinds words of encouragement. If she heard of a need, the desire of her heart was to meet that need. A favorite saying of hers was, "We should have a heart that beats for others."
Dorothy was a homebound member of City Church at Northside, and previously a member of the Sunshine Class at Hiland Park Baptist, where she had many loving friends. Although very elderly, this group of ladies served the Lord, being a godly influence in their communities and families. Before leaving class each week, the ladies would hold hands and recite their class verse: "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." Psalms 19:14. Dorothy lived this verse in all that she did.
She was predeceased by her parents, Claudie Mae and Thomas Jefferson Johnson and her brother, LM Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Morgan and husband, James O'Neill, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jennifer Morgan and husband, Jerry Carter, of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Bryan Morgan O'Neill, of Jacksonville; Morgan Elizabeth O'Neill and Alexander Christian O'Neill, of Tallahassee as well as numerous other family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm in Greenwood Cemetery, on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 PM preceding the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, please continue her legacy by meeting the needs of others. Remember, the heart is happiest when it beats for others.
