Dorothy Davis Balkcom, 93, of Panama City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 2, 2020.  She was born August 17, 1927 in Holmes County, Florida.  She attended Holmes County Schools and was a member of the Women's Basketball team at Holmes County High School before graduating in 1944. She retired from the Personnel Department at the Naval Coastal Systems Center after 35 years of devoted service.  Following retirement, she and her husband Millard spent many hours outdoors fishing, gardening and sharing the bountiful harvest with neighbors, family and friends. She was a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church, was an accomplished seamstress and flower gardening was a favorite pastime. She was preceded in death by her parents Jeff & Hester Lee Ward Davis; nine siblings and her husband of 70 years, Zelotes Millard Balkcom.  She is survived by her daughter, Carmel Dodson (Bill) of Port St. Joe, FL; two grandsons, Micah Dodson of Tallahassee, FL, Matthew Dodson (Samantha) of New Port Richie, FL and a sister, Lila Davis Webb of Phoenix City, AL.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. CDT in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Chaplain Conrad Meadows officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dorothy Balkcom to Seagrass Village Memory Care, Attn: Ellen Witterstaeter, 401 N.
