DORIS HANNAH RICKARDS PERNA
Doris Rickards Perna, 81, of Panama City passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at her home after a brief illness. She was born December 31, 1926 in Carrabelle, Florida. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1966 and was a faithful member of Gospel Assembly Church in Panama City where she served as an usherette with her best friend, Lillie Mae Paul. She always had a smile for everyone and loved her dogs, Nana and Sugarbear. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Maggie and Melvin Rickards, of Carrabelle, her husband of 46 years, George J. Perna, Sr. and son, Carmine Perna, two brothers, Melvin Rickards of Tampa, Fl. and John Lewis Rickards of Carrabelle. She is survived by her 4 children, Doris L. Cameron and husband, Jim, Carmiah Bryant and husband, Paul, George J. Perna, Jr. and wife, Elke, Debra Barron and husband, Toney, all of Panama City, 6 grandchildren, Melvin Jay Bryant and wife, Tiffany, of Eglin AFB, Michael Bryant and wife, Brittany, of Panama City Tiffany Hand and husband, Jeremy, of Panama City, Brittany N. Johnson and husband, Travis, of Panama City, Brian and Kevin Perna of Panama City, 6 great grandchildren, Devante, Raiven and Melaina Bryant, Noah and Brayden Johnson and Luke Kaden Hand, a brother, Clarence Rickards and wife, Winifred, of Carrabelle, a sister, Beatrice Bramton and husband, Lee Roy, of Panama City and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Gospel Assembly Church, 424 E. Baldwin Rd., Panama City, Fl. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Gospel Assembly Church with Pastor Steve Coy officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. CST Saturday at the Carrabelle Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the men of Gospel Assembly Church. Honorary pallbearers will be her family. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Azzam Adhal, Covenant Hospice, and the doctors and nurses at Bay Medical Center.
