Dorathey Jean Buckner Vickers
August 23, 1935 – January 2025

Dorathey Jean Buckner Vickers, affectionately known as Dot, passed away peacefully in January 2025, leaving a legacy of love, creativity, and faith.

Born on August 23, 1935, Dot lived a remarkable life defined by her devotion to her family, artistry, and unwavering faith in God. She is survived by her loving husband, John E. Vickers; her children, Rebecca Harless and Stephen Harless; her stepchildren, Valerie J. Vickers, David S. Vickers (Jamie), Mary A. Vickers, and Wayne A. Vickers (Elane); and numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dot and John's enduring love created a beautifully blended family. Their home was a haven of warmth and unity, often filled with birthday and holiday celebrations.

Dot's career as a Technical Illustrator at the local Naval Base spanned 31 years, during which she broke barriers for women in the workforce. A trailblazer and mentor, she tirelessly advocated for the advancement of women, empowering others to reach their full potential. Alongside her professional achievements, Dot was an accomplished artist whose works now grace homes and businesses worldwide. She earned an Associate's Degree in Art from Gulf Coast Community College and a Bachelor's from Florida State University. She channeled her talents into creations, celebrating her love of God, her family, and the natural world. Her art, often inspired by nautical themes, reflected the beauty she saw in life and faith.

Dot and John embraced adventure in retirement, exploring the United States together. They cherished time spent canoeing, walking, scalloping, birdwatching, and making precious memories with family. A long-standing member of the Panama Art Association, Dot remained passionate about art and continued to inspire those around her with her creativity and dedication.

Dot will be remembered for her sweet, accepting spirit and commitment to reflecting Christ's love in her daily life. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she touched countless lives with her kindness, encouragement, and unwavering faith.

She cherished her furry companions, remembering her dogs Simon and Burberry, her cat Solo, and her son's dog Noley.

Dot's legacy lives on through her family, her art, and the many lives she touched with her kindness and love. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services to celebrate Dot's extraordinary life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18.
