Donna Voncille Youngblood Mattern, age 87 of Panama City, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, surrounded by family.

Donna was born in Springfield, FL, in 1939 to Christian parents Richard Ernest Youngblood and Mary Byrd Youngblood. After graduating from Bay High School in 1956, at the age of 17, God gave her the love of her live, Lee Norman Mattern. They were married in 1956 until Lee’s passing in 2021. Donna was a homemaker and mother of four children and a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church PCA in Panama City, FL. She considered herself blessed by her children, three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was fiercely devoted to her family, and she loved and served Jesus Christ with all her heart. Everyone who knew her loved her; and she never met a stranger. She is known for her acute memory of the past coupled with her extraordinarily detailed stories. She loved the outdoors, tending her garden, and pulling weeds.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Lee Norman Mattern; her parents, Richard Ernest Youngblood and Mary Byrd Youngblood; and her brother, Richard Byrd “Dickie” Youngblood, Sr. and wife, Aline. Survivors include her four children: Mary Victoria Mattern Taws (Bruce), Monica Lee Mattern Luisi (Gerard), Martha Anna Mattern Peak (Joel), and Lee Norman Mattern II (Michelle). Grandchildren: Jennie Grace Taws Marking (Jordan), Heath Taws (Ashley), James Luisi (Alex), Briana Luisi, Grant Luisi (Jordan), Eryn Peak, Ashley Mattern Boehm (Jordan), Courtney Mattern, and Hailey Mattern Jacoby (Jake). Great-grandchildren: Connor and Cooper Marking, Thad and Ridley Taws, Kane and Zeke Boehm, Sammy and Natalie Donna Luisi, and Shepard Luisi. Nieces and nephews: Nancy Lietzel, Pam Kramer (Terry), Brenda Mattern (Steve), Roger Mattern, Byrd Youngblood, James Youngblood (Amanda), and Steve Youngblood (Sandra). Cousins: Joyce Baxley and Kay Powell.

The funeral will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 3:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 100 East 7th Street, Panama City, FL 32401. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The service will be live streamed and recorded on Facebook titled: Donna Mattern Celebration of Life.
