DONALD BARRY

Donald Barry, 78, of Panama City, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at a local hospital.

Don was born in Alliance, FL, and had lived in Panama City since 1973. He joined the US Air Force in 1953 at age 17, working in Telecommunications, Air Conditioning, and Electrical.

He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant with 22.5 years, serving in Korea, France, Cold Bay Alaska, and Thailand. After his military service, Don worked at Nuclear Power Products, Foster Wheeler and Harnischfeger for over 13 years. He opened Barry's Airconditioning in 1987, working until 1999. He was a believer of the protestant faith. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Don is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Barry Mixon; and his sisters, Shirley Nolin, Dorothy Moyer, and Nell Keefer.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Anita Barry of Panama City; his 2 children, Cindy Barry of Panama City, and Ivey Barry Kampouris of Bridgewater, NJ; his sisters, Betty Jean Dickens of Oak Harbor, WA, Irma Jean Bedgood of Cedartown, GA, Bobbie Pitts of Panama City, FL; and his grandchildren, Emmanuel Kampouris and Elena Kampouris.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve Taylor officiating and full military honors conducted by the US Air Force. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral home on Tuesday, February 14 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or Wounded Warriors Project in Don's name.
