Dennis G. Wilson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay in Panama City, Florida. He was born on June 16, 1941, in Abbeville, Alabama, to John Olin Wilson and Ruby Wilson (née Davis).

Dennis was a lifelong learner and dedicated professional. He graduated from Bay County High School in 1959 and went on to attend Gulf Coast Junior College, Florida Atlantic University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and the University of Florida, where he earned his master’s degree. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a Civil Coastal Engineer and served as the South Atlantic Division Diving Officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before later retiring from the Navy base. He also found great fulfillment in teaching, spending several semesters as an adjunct mathematics professor at Gulf Coast Junior College.

Those who knew Dennis will remember him for his quick wit, his love of a funny joke, and his ability to bring a smile to those around him. He treasured time with his family, enjoyed getting lost in a good book, and took great pride in caring for his beloved dog, Winston. More than anything, Dennis was a man of character. He treated others with honor, respect, and dignity and lived his life as a God-fearing man. His faith was an important part of who he was. He was a member of First Baptist Church and spent several years serving as a Sunday school teacher.

Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the family he cherished. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Wilson; daughter, Ashley (Todd) Majors; grandchildren, Savannah Wood, Sutherland Wood, and Christian Brooke (Austin) Morris; great-grandchildren, Alayena, Emersyn, and Miller; sisters, Miriam Ridge and Virginia Bouchillon; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jacqueline Swearingen, Billy Wilson, Harlan Wilson, and Mike Wilson.

Though he will be deeply missed, Dennis’ family finds comfort in knowing that the love, laughter, wisdom, and memories he gave them will remain in their hearts forever. His life touched many, and his memory will continue to live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know and love him.

Honoring Dennis’ wishes, there will be no service. His family is grateful for the love, support, thoughts, and prayers extended to them during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dennis’ memory with a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in support of cancer research.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
