Deborah K. Sasser, 65, of Panama City Beach, Florida passed away February 13, 2024.
Deborah, known by most as Debbie, moved to Panama City Beach in 1969 at the age of 12, graduating from Bay High School in 1976 and then attending Gulf Coast Community College. She married her husband, Howard Sasser, in 1986. She worked for Silvia Harrison as a Rental Manager and was owner and operator of Surfside Video from 1997 to 2002.
Debbie, spent her life faithfully caring for and serving the community that she lived in and loved. She presented plans for the Under The Palms Park and Playground at Frank Brown Park to the Womens' Club of Panama City Beach, later joining the Club and raising funds for the completion of the first ADA park for disabled children in southeast U.S.. In 2002 Debbie was elected to and served on The Panama City Beach City Council through 2006. She was a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County for 15 years, serving as President for 6 years. In 2006 Debbie joined the Board of Directors for the nonprofit organization Hearts for Military Heroes helping Veterans and their spouses; and for the last 20 years she also volunteered for the Supervisors of Elections Office of Bay County.
As special as her community was to her, what meant the most to Debbie was her family. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Howard Sasser, her two sons, Zachary D. Sasser, and Adam C. W. Sasser, and grandson, Sylas B. Sasser.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Laura King, father, Rayford H. King, and brother, Douglas H. King.
Deborah K. Sasser was an extraordinary woman with a fiery spirit and a heart of gold. She will be missed by many and we will cherish the memories of her big hearted smile, her mischievous laugh, and the love she gave us all.
A Celebration Of Life for Debbie will be held on a future date.
