Obituary

Dean Shelley Freeman Ridley of Panama City passed away on November 1, 2017. Her life's journey was a very rewarding one and her faith was evident in every step along the way.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, her loving husband of 31 years, Norman J. Freeman and their son, Kent Freeman.
She is survived by their son, Aaron Freeman and life partner Clay Riegel and daughter-in-law, Doris Freeman all of Panama City. Two granddaughters, Suzanne Pierce (Tyson) of Loganville GA and Shelley Meeks (Kyle) of Bethlehem GA, four great grandchildren, Caleb Pierce, Christi, Kenny and Cody Tobiasz and numerous other family and friends.
She and Norman and their young sons moved to Panama City from Columbus, GA in 1959, where they became active members in the First Baptist Church and many civic organizations.
After Norman's death, she married Sam Ridley and they were active members in the First Methodist Church. She and Sam shared a happy marriage for 25 years and were also very active in the community. As a widow, Dean moved her membership back to First Baptist Church and again was an active member.
She will be remembered fondly by members of the many organizations she had been a part of: Panama City Women's Club where she chaired the Youth Department several times and she was chairman of the Red Stocking Review for seven shows; Bay Medical Hospital Auxiliary; Bay County March of Dimes' Bay County Republican Women, BPOE 180 Panama City Does; Shaddai Shriners Wives Group during which time she made many contributions and organized the Palms Garden Club of Shaddai Temple. The Shriners were still honoring her as one of the Classic Ladies at the time of her death.
A Celebration of Dean's Life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neil Hickem officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations may be made in memory of Dean to Shriners Hospital for Children Transportation Program,
