David R. Walker, Jr. was born on May 10th, 1967, on Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. He was born to Margaret Sandra (Sandy) (Youngblood) Walker and David R. Walker, Sr. After a sickly infancy, he grew into a sturdy, active, curious, and mischievous boy and man.
Most of his youth was spent moving around the U.S. There was even a year-long stay in Bangkok, Thailand, when he was a preschooler. After high school, he briefly attended New York University before taking off for many adventures.
During his rambles he worked various jobs, earned a degree in culinary arts, and received a certificate and then his license in aircraft engine and body maintenance. He was employed at Eastern Shipbuilding at the time of his death.
David was bright, intelligent, and tough but tender. He had an irreverant wit and terrific taste in music. In his teens he played bass guitar in a rock band. He was technologically and mechanically gifted, and cooked beautifully.
He is survived in his maternal family by his mother, Margaret S. Walker, his sister, Amy E. Walker-Singh (along with her estranged husband, Bhandeo Singh), and his aunt, Nancy S. Youngblood, his second mother.
He is survived in his paternal family by his father, David R. Walker, Sr., his step-mother, Mary Anne (Montoya) Walker, his half brother, Cobourn J. Walker, his half-sister, Rachel C. (Walker) Ogle (along with Rachel's husband, Stacy Ogle, Rachel's step-son, Coby Ogle, and Rachel's daughter, Emma Grace Ogle), and his half-brother, Alexander P. Walker.
All four of his grandparents (now all deceased), Sam and Mina Youngblood, and Cobourn and Lillian Walker, were also significant in David's life.
David was a romantic and loving sweetheart to his girlfriend, Diane McCoy.
David was a loyal family member who would go above and beyond to help when needed. He was a caring friend. He loved animals and would cry at one of the family pets' passing.
David's life burnt out in a spectacular blaze of light. He did not go gentle into that good night, as per Dylan Thomas' famous instructions. David has now been lifted from this chaos of confusion. Our lost angel on Earth can now take his place in Heaven.
