DAVID DAVIS
David Davis, 88, of Parker, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 in his home. He was born July 7, 1920 in Parker and had been a lifelong resident. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Upon returning from the war, he served as a Marine Drill Instructor at Paris Island. He returned home to Bay County to become a commercial fisherman and shrimper until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Leamon & Annie Stephens Davis, two sisters, Georgia Brown, Marcell Parker and brother, L.L. Davis. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Myron Davis, two daughters, Sherry Lynn Davis, of Parker, Sara Harris and husband Robert, of Panama City, three grandchildren, Gregory Carithers and wife Diann, Randy Carithers and wife Virginia, all of Mobile, AL, Renee Mercer and husband Mark, of Panama City, nine great grandchildren, brother, Norman Davis, of Callaway, sister, Annie Lavern Martin, of Jacksonville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Parker Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 College Avenue, Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of David Davis
