Obituary

David A. Chew, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 5th at the age of 66. While his departure leaves a void that can never be filled, we celebrate a life lived with humor, warmth, and endless love.

Born on November 10th, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio, David had a knack for making people laugh from a young age. Whether it was a quick-witted comment or an elaborate prank, his sense of humor was both infectious and unforgettable. He had the remarkable ability to lighten any room, turning mundane moments into cherished memories.

David joined the Air Force at the age of 20 serving for 26 years until his retirement.  He was incredibly proud of his time in the military and the many accolades that he gained along the way.  He was an avid lover of his family, music, watches, art, gadgets, guns, and every other tiny collectible that he could find.

As a father, David was nothing short of extraordinary. He was a doting Dad who loved nothing in the world more than his three girls.  His jokes were a staple at family gatherings, and his laughter was the soundtrack of countless joyful occasions. He taught his children to see the lighter side of life, a lesson they carry with them every day despite their mother's displeasure with their inherited sense of humor.

Beyond his family, David was a cherished brother and friend. They will forever treasure the countless inside jokes and the way he could make any gathering unforgettable.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find solace in the countless memories filled with laughter and love.  David leaves behind a legacy of joy, one that will continue to bring smiles and laughter to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother Amelia Sierra and father Robert Chew.  He is survived by his prior wife and life long friend Cheryl Chew, his children, Traci Nicole Fannin, Letitia Lynn Watson, Sarah Aubrey Chew and his brothers Robert "Bob" Chew and Carl Chew.  He was a beloved Poppi to seven grandchildren: Lochlan, Aslyn, Maddy, Silas, Stone, Iley and Gage, and uncle to Katie, Grace, and Ben.  He was a friend to many who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of David's life will be held on Friday December the 13th at Wilson's funeral home in Panama City, FL at 1pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12-1 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Rest in peace, David, Dad, Poppi.  Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the unforgettable moments. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit and humor will live on in our hearts forever.
