Obituary

David Buchanan, 74, of Panama City Beach, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026. He was born on June 11, 1951 and raised in Panama City. He graduated from Rutherford High School, worked various jobs, but soon felt God’s leading to full-time ministry which led him to Berkshire Christian College in Massachusetts. After graduation he served as Youth Minister, Associate Pastor, and Full-time Pastor in several churches in the denomination. His last pastorate was at Millville Advent Christian Church where he served for over 30 years. David experienced mountains for the first time while at college, but he had a fondness for the North Carolina mountains where he did extensive hiking with his good buddy, Chet Hart. To make life even better, he bought a Harley Davidson motorcycle and rode that in the mountains with his wife, Barbara, of 26 years. David enjoyed spending time on the bays of Panama City. He and Barbara started with a jet ski, advanced to a ski boat and then ended with a pontoon boat, which better accommodated the grandchildren (his greatest joy was being “Papa”). David provided many hours of pleasure forhis family and friends gliding across the bay and enjoying Shell Island. David was known for his beautiful voice which he used extensively to praise the Lord. He had a love for reading, especially westerns and watching old, and I mean OLD movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Juanita Buchanan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Buchanan ; his children Blythe Buchanan (Linda), Lindsay Buchanan; Heather Arnold and Jesse Arnold (Sunshine); grandchildren, Samantha Buchanan, Carson Buchanan, Colton Jentink, Ava Jentink and Skyler Arnold; siblings Cheryl Gilroy, Candy Hall (Frank); Robin Buchanan (Pam), Bonny Buchanan (Kathy); brothers-in-law, Randy Dula (Susan), Tracy Dula (Jean); sister-in-law, Brenda Mosak (Mark) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, it is requested memorial donations be made to the Millville Advent Christian Church WH&FMS (for outreach and missionary projects) in memory of David Buchanan.
