David Fredric Ammerman

March 6, 1948 - June 9, 2024

David Fredric Ammerman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on March 6, 1948, David lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his community and family. David's life was a testament to his faith, love, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

David was a proud Vietnam Era Navy Veteran and also served in the Florida Army National Guard. His commitment to serving others extended beyond the military, as he became an integral part of the West Bay Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as both chief and chaplain.

David's deep faith in Jesus Christ was central to his life. He loved the church and served in several congregations throughout his life. He led worship, served as a deacon, and most recently, as an Elder at his beloved Trinity Lutheran Church. David also had a passion for singing and was an active member of several choral groups, including the Gulf Tones Barbershop Harmony Chorus.

Professionally, David worked for the City of Panama City for over 30 years as a draftsman. His talent and dedication to improving his community were evident in the parks he designed and in countless other improvements to Panama City.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Ammerman and Evelyn [Britton] Ammerman, and his brother, Ronald (Susan). He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Ammerman; his children, Tammy Boullard, Jay Ammerman (Jessica), Adam Griggs, and Robert Griggs (Amber); and his siblings, Gary (Martie), Linda (Dennis) Neal, Guy (Barbara), Keith (Debra) and Boyd (Lisa). David was also blessed with ten adoring grandchildren, who loved their Papa deeply.

David's legacy of service, love, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. His life was a testament to his faith, his commitment to his community, and his deep love for his family. Moreover, David's life was marked by his unwavering faith in Christ Jesus. He touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and dedication to service.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Panama City, FL, on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 am, where family and friends will gather to celebrate David's life and honor his memory. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
