Dareene Tibbetts Mattke of Panama City Beach, died Tuesday, November 12 of natural causes at age 88. She was predeceased by husband Gilbert Edward Mattke, Sr., parents Kelly H. Tibbetts and Althea Scott Tibbetts, and siblings Airley, Kelvin, Jimmy, and Alma Tibbetts. She is survived by siblings Ansley, Clifford, and Donny Tibbetts (Carolyn), sons Gilbert Edward Mattke, Jr. and Steven Alan Mattke (Kathy), granddaughter Stephanie Mattke Sickler (William), and great-grandchildren Olivia and Wesley Sickler.
She immigrated to the United States from the Cayman Islands with her family in 1938, receiving her US citizenship in 1951. The family settled originally in Port Arthur, Texas, and moved to Panama City in 1962.
She retired from Beach Elementary School in 1993 after serving as Secretary under Principals Frank K. Brown and Joel Armstrong for 32 years. She was a long time member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by friends and family far and wide.
Visitation will be held at 10:00am November 19th at Wilsons Funeral Home with funeral services at 11:00am. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
