IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Danz Frederick
Hain Blasser
September 13, 1952 – November 11, 2023
Danz Frederick Hain Blasser, 71, of Lynn Haven, Florida, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Noland Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. He was born on September 13, 1952, in Staten Island, New York, to Edward Franklin Blasser and Phyllis Ellen Seidel.
Danz served for 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Slavic Crypto Linguist. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for 30 years as a Senior Korean War Analyst for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency in support of the U.S.-Russia Joint Commission on POW/MIAs (with some overlap between his military and civilian career). During his successful 46-year career for the federal government he was stationed in Berlin, Germany; Misawa, Japan; Moscow, Russia; and traveled to over a hundred countries, including the mountains of Albania, all former republics of the Soviet Union, and North Korea. In 2012 Danz was featured in the PBS Documentary on the Korean War, "Missing in MiG Alley," as Chief of the Korean War Working Group for DPAA. His passion was to help the families of missing service members find new information about their loved ones and, when possible, to find closure. Danz spent many years doing research in the Russian archives, conducting interviews with Soviet and American pilots that provided vital clues on the missing servicemen, and reconstructing the events of the air battles over North Korea, which has led to recovering the remains of missing servicemen. Danz's wide interests ranged from military history to golf, genealogy, and ornithology. Most of all Danz loved his family. Danz will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Danz is survived by his wife, Elizaveta Blasser, and daughter, Adrienne Blasser, of Lynn Haven, FL, his brothers, Dr. Kurt Blasser of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Dr. Marc Blasser of St. Augustine, FL, Eric Blasser of Macungie, PA, and half-brother, Peter Blasser, of Berlin, Germany, as well as extended family.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10am in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The burial service at the Arlington National Cemetery will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Audubon Society in memory of Danz Blasser.
