Obituary

Dale Louise Keyworth (Bowlen), 83, of Panama City Beach, Fla. passed away March 06, 2021. Dale was born on September 25th, 1937 in Henderson, Texas to Margaret and Daniel O'Connell Bowlen.

She grew up in her mother's hometown of Birmingham, Alabama and moved to Panama City Beach, FL in 1955. She was a graduate of Bay County High School and was on the honor roll. She was an advocate of higher education and was the first to receive an advanced degree in her family. Dale began her collegiate studies at Florida State University, later transferring to the University of Houston where she graduated Magna Sum Laudae with her certificate in Physical Therapy. She later received a Bachelors and a Master's degree in Allied Health Education in 1975 from the University of Houston. She enjoyed a fulfilling and life-long career as a physical therapist in Houston, Texas. Dale was committed to her practice and helping others, even in retirement.

Dale worked in Mobile, Alabama and Houston, Texas Rehab Centers before becoming the director of various Houston area hospitals. She left hospital administration in 1983 and opened her first outpatient clinic, Affiliates in Physical Therapy, in 1985. She sold her practice in 2000 planning to retire with her husband, Don, but after his sudden passing she elected to continue working until 2013.

Dale was a devoted aficionado of the arts. She loved opera and classical music and enjoyed learning to play her guitars. Some could call Dale a hoarder of the arts. Her past music and art collections would be overwhelming for most. The majority of her collection resides with Houston Baptist University in Houston, Tx. Dale was adventurous. So much that, later in life, she became a certified scuba diver, traveled on safari to Africa and learned to sail. Dale, as a middle child, could be described as quiet and reserved by many; but for those who really knew Dale she was funny, caring, and quick with her wit. Dale enjoyed traveling, entertaining, and visiting the Houston Symphony. She enjoyed discussing her love for Texas and looked forward to attending the Houston Rodeo with her sister, Sydney, annually.

Preceding her in death were her husband and love of her life, Donald A. Keyworth, her parents, Margaret and Daniel Bowlen, her sister Sydney Cowgill, and her brother Daniel Bowlen. Dale was a loving aunt, great-aunt, cousin, sister, and friend to all of her family and friends.

Survivors include her beloved feline companion Punky, niece Francene Purser (Bill), caretaker and friend Staci Lesner (Ray), sister-in-law Kinki Bowlen, nephews Louis Tate (Cathy), Chris Bowlen (Delia), Craig Bowlen, and Creed Bowlen (Brett), great-nieces Niki Runion (Steve), Carrie Tate, Pamela Densen (Seth), and Laura Bowlen, great-nephews Micheal Purser, Zach Bowlen (Alexandria), and Ki Bowlen, seven great-great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

The family will accept guests for a Celebration of Life Monday, March 15, 2021 from 2pm to 4pm at Wilson Funeral Home 214 Airport Road, Panama City, Fl 32405. Masks required. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
